"Discover Aviation Days" will not take place in 2006

We currently don't have the funding to support the event.  The lack of attendance due to bad weather from the 2004 event and the post event fund raising efforts didn't provide enough revenue to feel financially secure about covering expenses.

This board continues to meet and search out interests and opportunities for donations and fund raising to reach it's event expense goals.  We are currently working with a grant writer in attempts to raise funds.  We feel strongly that this event is important to the community and the Anoka County Airport.  Our goal and interest have always been, and will continue to be, to educate the general public and invite the surrounding communities to participate in all aspects of aviation in it's finest form.

By no means do we want this event to fade away, but it will take the help and support of airport members and the local community to keep it alive.  If you or anyone you know has interest in helping with fundraising, please have them contact any of the DAD board members.  Anyone with helping idea's can email them to the address listed below or mail any donations directly to:

HELP!

Though we are attempting to raise funds, we still need your help!  The event has had its continuous growth and success through four key areas.  Fly-In & Resident Support, Volunteers, Dedicated Planners, and Financial Support.  If this event is to continue, all four of these areas desperately need your help!

Fly-In and Resident Support:

First and foremost this is a "Fly-In" event, all type aircraft are welcome for display.  The event is about educating general public on the wonders of aviation.  During the event we ask that you display your aircraft and participate in the activities.  The Twin Cities and local area's hold an enormous range of aircraft types and everyone should be very proud to display what they have worked on so hard.  Most visitors enjoy looking at any type of airplane including factory built aircraft.

Volunteers:

It takes an enormous amount of dedication and energy to put this event together and host it for the visitors.  We are looking for more individuals who are interested in helping.  There are many different areas you can serve, such as Mailings, Car-Parking, Aircraft-Parking, Event Set-Up, Aircraft Rides, Kids Activities and many more.  All need manpower.  One day, both days, before the event, after…   any amount of help that can be given, will be accepted.  We can’t do this event without volunteer help.

Event Planners:

Many hours of preparation go into this event, months before it takes place.  If you are interested in helping with the planning stages of this event, we are looking for more dedicated individuals who can commit some time and take on certain tasks.  It is this group that steers our goal of sharing and educating the public of the many aspects of aviation and the importance of this airport to the community.  If you have strong feelings about how D.A.D. should be managed, this is the place where you can make those suggestions and improvements.

Financial Support:

To help us raise funds, we have become a registered 501 © 3 non profit organization.  We did this in hopes that it we be more likely that individuals and companies will donate funds and support services to D.A.D. knowing that it will be a tax deductible donation.

If you are unable to help in the three above areas, you can still help by making a contribution towards covering needed expenses.  If you know of groups or individuals that would be willing to donate, let us know.  We are more then willing to give you a conformational tax donation letter for your write off.
